Recycled Ramps

The Beehive students love to learn about motion, and one of our favorite invitations is making our own obstacle courses and ramps for cars and trucks to roll down. The teachers help to secure found objects such as cardboard cylinders to the side of the classroom wall with tape, and we experiment with the effects that different angles of ramp system make on the acceleration of each car. As a class we love watching the cars roll down the ramp, noticing the change in speed as we raise the ramp lower, higher, and then completely flat.
