Our Rules:
Clean-up:
When it’s time for the class to clean up and transition into a new activity, we love listening and singing different clean up songs to help get the job done! The teachers problem-solve and identify with the students where in the classroom each toy belongs, and by using other creative clean-up tactics such as playing basketball with bean bags to put them back in the bin, clean-up goes by fairly smoothly.
Morning Meeting
For our morning meeting, quick circle time, the Beehive students love singing with their “song sticks”. These are tongue depressors decorated each with one of the class’ favorite songs, which the children love to hold, wave around and dance with as we sing as a class. Some classics include, “The Wheels on the Bus”, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, “Skidamarinkadink”, and many more. By having something to hold, each with a picture attached to the song stick, the students love to participate even more and have a visual connection to the lyrics in each song.
Discipline Approach
In the Beehive, we strive to create a positive relationship between the student and teacher. By providing provocations and invitations that inspire the child’s imagination and hold their attention, we believe that discipline problems are minimal. However, if discipline is necessary, we take a positive approach through methods of explanation, positive reinforcement, and modeling. Our ultimate goal is to provide a safe and loving space in the classroom for all students to grow, learn, and play.
